When can I volunteer?

UGArden hosts open volunteer hours for individuals on Monday afternoons and Wednesday mornings. This is when we need the most help with the harvest. Opportunities are posted on Engage Georgia.  If you are not a UGA student, you are still welcome to come volunteer. All we ask is for you to contact us first at garden@gmail.com.

Can I work on the weekend?

UGArden is closed Saturday and Sunday but from time to time we host  weekend work events for groups on a case-by-case basis.

What should I bring?

Whether you tour or work you should wear closed-toed shoes, a hat/sunscreen, and bring water. If you are working you should also wear clothes you don’t mind getting dirty.

What time do I have to arrive/How long do I have to stay?

Open volunteer typically run for 2-3 hours, depending on the activity. If you can’t work that long, we ask that you come at hte beginning of the posted time(s) so you will not miss instructions.

What will I do?

Our volunteers help us harvest food crops so that the farm can sell and donate fresh, healthy food with the Athens community. Volunteers help us move ~700 lbs. of produce into the community per month. Other activities include planting, weeding, and general upkeep.

Where do I park?

Parking is available in the lot adjacent to the white metal barn. Click here for a map of the property.

Where do I go once on the farm?

Head to the white metal barn at the top of the hill. Our office is the door next to the seating area.

How do I get to UGArden?

Our address is 2510 S. Milledge Ave. and our office is the white metal barn at the top of the hill. You can find in-depth directions under the Contact tab at the top of the screen.

Is there a bus that goes to UGArden?

Yes! UGA’s Riverbend and South Milledge (RSM) runs from 7 am to 6:45 pm every 20 minutes. You can catch the bus at Snelling, Stegeman Coliseum, Ag Hill, and Aderhold among other stops. Once on the bus ride until the final stop and you’re at UGArden!
