Campus Kitchen

Located in the UGArden upper barn, Campus Kitchen is a program through the Office of Service Learning. Campus Kitchen receives the majority of UGArden’s produce, which they distribute to their clientele of community members facing food insecurity. They place particular focus on grandparents raising grandchildren. Campus Kitchen and UGArden have a close relationship and collaborate on nearly every project.

Concrete Jungle

Concrete Jungle is a gleaning nonprofit – meaning they work with farmers and other local landowners to rescue produce that would otherwise be discarded. Concrete Jungle donates of their rescued food to Campus Kitchen, and UGArden serves as a location for the storage and exchange of food. Additionally, Concrete Jungle helps us out by hosting volunteer events on the farm to help with harvesting.

Office of Sustainability

The Office of Sustainability is one of UGArden’s biggest supporters. OOS sponsors internships and grant projects that empower student creativity and innovation on the farm.

Fresh Express

Fresh Express is a food pantry that connects UGA students with fresh fruits and vegetables. UGArden donates produce to Fresh Express that they then distribute to their clientele across campus.

Geography/Geology Green Roof

The Green Roof Garden on top of the Geology/Geography building was established in the 1960’s as a temperature buffer for the Climatology Research Lab. Since then, it has developed into an organic garden that collaborates closely with UGArden. We support the Green Roof team by providing greenhouse space and other resources for maintenance and production. They donate their produce back to our partners for distribution throughout the community.

Experience UGA

Experience UGA brings every ACC student to UGA’s campus each year to experience learning on a university campus. Every semester, UGArden hosts 7th graders. With the help of volunteers, students and the Experience UGA team, we introduce our visitors to agricultural and environmental concepts like composting and pollination – all through fun, hands-on activities.

Shell to Shore

Shell to Shore is an oyster shell recycling organization working to restore Georgia’s coastline. UGArden stores some of their reclaimed oyster shells until they are cured and ready for use in restoration projects. Spot the shells on our property just past the Horticulture Greenhouses.

Keep Athens Clarke County Beautiful

Keep Athens Clarke County Beautiful is an organization “offering community support and education regarding issues that affect the health and appearance of our environment.” UGArden works with KACCB to distribute starter plants to local school gardens.
